As terrible as the toll exacted by COVID-19 may turn out to be, some part of me tries to find hope in the idea that we might all come a little closer together as a result of our experience in all this. Our politics might shift, to be colored more by compassion than by fear. We might also find that staying at home can make a sizable environmental impact.
This massive global disaster might in some ways be the thing that saves us from the terrifying and destructive path we’ve so clearly been on these past years.
Maybe there’s some sun behind the rainclouds.
